Fortnite livestream beating: Man accused of bashing pregnant wife speaks out

An Australian man facing charges for common assault after allegedly beating his wife while livestreaming has spoken out - but he hasn't apologised.

MrDeadMoth told 7News that he's not a woman basher, as his partner said in the video of the incident uploaded to YouTube.

"She knows that [I'm not an abuser] and it's a one-off and she'll corroborate that in court. It's never happened before and it won't happen again."

He told 7News that he hasn't seen the video because "there's no point - I know what happened and it's not what everyone assumes happened".

The incident has sparked many to speak out on social media against violence against women.

"Cut ya losses lady, take the kids and live a better life without gamer boy" said one person on Facebook

"This is really disturbing. I hope that besides Twitch banning him, charges are brought against him. Especially since kids were watching the whole thing play out" said another on YouTube.

But others have done the opposite, saying the man's partner instigated the abuse.

"Uhh... who's abusing who here?  I mean really, seems like he tried de-escalating her bullshit for quite a while," one person commented on Youtube.

"More proof that women never shut up," another said.

"Females want equal rights yet are allowed to do what they like and the guy gets all the blame for it," one person said on Facebook.

MrDeadMoth is due to appear in Camden local court on the 13th December.
