Jason Momoa led a powerful haka on the red carpet at the world premiere of his new film, Aquaman, in Los Angeles.

Momoa was joined by Kiwi actor Temuera Morrison, who plays his father, for the stirring performance of Ka Mate.

The Hollywood A-lister incorporated Aquaman's golden trident into the haka, at one point even snapping it over his knee.

Momoa was born in Hawaii, but has frequently spoken publicly of his love for New Zealand. He often wears a Pounamu necklace, as does his Aquaman character.

The DC Extended Universe film incorporates several other nods to Aotearoa, including a hongi and a reference to Kiwi film Once Were Warriors, in which Morrison also starred.

Momoa famously performed a haka when auditioning for his role as Khal Drogo on Game Of Thrones, a move which helped his career take off internationally.
