Karl Stefanovic has been dumped as the host of Australia's Today show, after 14 years behind the desk.
Stefanovic's personal life, specifically his split from ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn and marriage to Jasmine Yarbrough, has been the centre of negative attention - distractions which have been blamed for the show's decline in ratings.
Fellow host Richard Wilkins praised his axed colleague Karl Stefanovic in a heartfelt farewell on Thursday, calling him a "fantastic, intuitive and intelligent journalist".
"Karl Stefanovic has been a co-host of this great show for 14 years. I've had the honour and pleasure and pressure sometimes of working alongside him almost every day over that time.
"And I can tell you from the heart that there is nobody who has worked harder for this show than Karl. He is a fantastic, intuitive and intelligent journalist."
Wilkins said it was no secret the past year has been difficult for Stefanovic, but every day he has strived to bring ideas to "make the show bigger and better."
"I have always described him as an intoxicating mix of world's best broadcaster and a naughty schoolboy."
Stefanovic will reportedly continue to host his other show on Nine, This Time Next Year.
