Mike McRoberts given medical OK for Dancing With The Stars NZ

Mike McRoberts will be okay to take part in Dancing With The Stars NZ after receiving medical clearance from his doctor.

His future in the competition was thrown in doubt when a knee injury forced the Newshub Live at 6 presenter to pull out of the Taupo Ironman.

"I've had injuries before but normally they would come right after a couple of weeks' rest. But by just after Christmas I'd had six weeks off running and my knee still hadn't improved I knew it was serious," he revealed.

"An X-Ray and MRI scan later confirmed I'd torn my meniscus - the cartilage inside my knee joint."

McRoberts has now revealed he will be able to take part, posting a cheeky photo of his dancing shoes on the news desk.

"Got the doctor's ok for dancing - so looking forward to hitting the D Floor in these bad boys," he wrote.

His co-presenter Samantha Hayes won 2018's Dancing With The Stars NZ competition.
