TV handyman John 'Cocksy' Cocks has died

Reality TV builder John 'Cocksy' Cocks has lost his battle with cancer.

The 52-year-old was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2016 and he died on Wednesday.

Stuff reported a death notice described him as "NZ's much loved builder and handyman" and that he died "peacefully, at his special place in Tairua, with the people who he loved".

"Loved soulmate and husband of Dana. Much loved Dad of Georgia, Ella and Sophie, and loyal sidekick of Biggie Smalls.

"Dearly loved eldest son of Joan and Reg, and much loved brother of Jane and Stuart (Pid)."

Cocks appeared in a number of TV shows, including My House My Castle and Cocksy's Day Off. He was also the face of the Carters Building Supplies adverts in the 2000s.
