Beauty brand Bellami Hair apologises after 'racist' Jordyn Woods Instagram post

A hair extension company has apologised after posting a meme about Jordyn Woods later condemned as racist.

The meme, posted to Instagram by Bellami Hair, has now been deleted.

It read: "Bad hair is just one betrayal away," accompanied with a photo of the 21-year-old with short hair.

The post was immediately met with backlash, with people calling out the brand for suggesting that natural African-American hair was somehow "bad".

The post came after a scandal that shook the entertainment world in February, when Jordyn allegedly kissed Tristan Thompson, an NBA star who has a child with and was dating Khloe Kardashian.

Jordyn has long been best friends with Khloe Kardashian's younger half-sister, makeup mogul Kylie Jenner.

In its apology, Bellami Hair posted the same photo of Jordyn that was used in the first post, but changed the caption.

"We would like to sincerely apologize to Jordyn Woods and our followers for the social media post that was shared on our platform yesterday," it wrote.

"We believe that all hair types are beautiful especially natural hair we did not want to hurt or offend anyone."

It admitted its choice of words was regrettable and vowed to "do better".

"We will strive to do better and be more mindful of sharing uplifting and positive content as it is never our intention to insult or attack anyone."

Jordyn has not commented on the post.
