Lady Gaga denies being in love with Bradley Cooper

Lady Gaga tried to set the record straight on rumours of a secret romance with Bradley Cooper in an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Showing off the Oscar she won for her song 'Shallow' from A Star Is Born earlier this week, Gaga discussed the connection she has with co-star and director Cooper, which prompted speculation the two were an item.

Aside from their on-screen chemistry in their roles as Ally and Jack in A Star Is Born, Gaga and Cooper added fuel to the fire throughout the film's press run with their intimate interactions.

All eyes were on the two actors as they took to the stage to perform an intimate rendition of 'Shallow' at the Oscars this week, filled with longing looks and warm embraces.

Kimmel grilled Gaga on the much-anticipated moment, where she addressed the rumours on record for the first time.

"People saw love, and guess what, that's what we wanted you to see!" she said.

"This is a love song, 'Shallow'. The movie, A Star Is Born, is a love story."

Gaga explained that Cooper had brought his directorial vision from the movie to the Oscars stage in order to help recreate the film's central relationship.

"Everything you saw, the way that it was shot... us walking up on stage, no intro... that was all him," she said.

"From a performance perspective, it was so important to both of us that we were connected the entire time. When you're singing love songs, that's what you want people to feel.

"I'm artist, and I guess we did a good job - fooled ya!"

A Star Is Born was nominated for eight Academy Awards this year, including Best Picture. 'Shallow' took out the Oscar for Best Original Song.
