Beverly Hills 90210 star Luke Perry dies

Beverly Hills 90210 star Luke Perry has died after suffering a stroke last week.

Perry, 52, died at St Joseph's Hospital in Burbank, California, surrounded by his family and close friends.

"He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends," Perry's representative said in a statement.

He was rushed to hospital on Wednesday morning (local time) after suffering a stroke while he was at his Sherman Oaks home.

Representatives of the Riverdale star say doctors sedated him to try and give his brain a chance to recover, but the damage was too much.

The stroke struck on the same day a Beverly Hills 90210 reboot was announced - the show which shot him to fame.

Original cast members Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green, and Tori Spelling will star, but Perry had not been announced to return.

Spelling previously told Access Live that Perry's production schedule on Riverdale would prevent him from being a regular, but he would do as many episodes as possible.
