Actor Nicolas Cage is trying to secure an annulment from his wife after drunkenly marrying her in Las Vegas.

The Mandy actor married makeup artist Erika Koike on March 23, but applied for an annulment four days later, TMZ reports.

The pair were apparently spotted fighting inside the Bellagio hotel, with witnesses saying Koike was yelling at Cage.

Cage states in court documents the pair had been drinking and were at the point of intoxication when the marriage took place.

He "lacked understanding" and "reacted on impulse without the ability to recognise or understand the full impact of his actions".

The documents also said Koike did not tell Cage about the full extent of her relationship with another person, and such conflict in personalities and dispositions make the pair incompatible.

The marriage is 104 days shorter than Cage's previous record for shortest marriage, which was to Lisa Marie Presley.

Cage wed Presley in August 2002 and filed for divorce in November 2004. The divorce was finalised in May 2004, making the settlement period more than a year longer than the actual marriage.
