Revealed: How much money the Married At First Sight Australia contestants get paid

A Married At First Sight Australia groom has dished on how much the contestants get paid for being on the show - and how he feels about it.

Telv Williams, one of the participants from the 2018 season of the reality show, addressed the question of money in a question-and-answer session on social media.

"Did MAFS pay for new outfits each week or the dinner parties or commitment ceremonies?" one fan asked on his Instagram story.

"You gotta do all your own hair and makeup. You gotta do your own dress, buy your own clothes," he replied angrily.

"You get paid AU$150 dollars a day, tax free. It's shit, it's rubbish... everything is off your own f**king back."

If Telv's information is accurate, the contestant's daily rate works out to around the same as an employee working an eight hour day on the Australian minimum wage of AU$18.93 per hour.

Many of the cast have spoken about the long hours involved with filming the show. Simone Lee- Brennan, a bride from the show's second season, told Mamamia her wedding was filmed "from 7am until 4am the following day... they make you film it over and over again".

The former reality TV star also weighed in on this year's explosive season finale, with particular reference to Mike Gunner's assertion that tension amongst the female contestants was down to "biology".

"I was team Mike all the way until the end, but that comment he made about genetic makeup and women not being good in a group - that was f**king rubbish."
