How to get The Sims 4 for free, now

Hit game The Sims 4 is currently available via gaming website Origin for free, until May 28.

The perennial life simulator is listed on EB Games' New Zealand website for $69.99, but can be downloaded at no cost for PC or Mac by simply logging into your Origin account, or creating one for free.

However, the game includes micro-transactions and if you become a big fan of it, it's very likely you'll be spending cash on it soon.

"This game will not be free for very long. If you're anything like me, you'll wind up spending money on the thing before you even turn it on," writes Dave Their for Forbes.

I mean, don't you want a bowling alley in your house? You can do it with the bowling stuff pack, which also comes with a bunch of charming mid-century style decor. Or maybe you want a hamster?

"None of this stuff is cheap. The Sims 4 is stacked with game packs, expansions and stuff packs from years of release, and it's all great. Loading up will cost some money, however."

After May 28, The Sims 4 will return to being a paid download on Origin.
