A video posted to YouTube captured the dramatic fall, which came after he had just made the crowd roar with laughter. The room then fell into complete silence as they waited for him to return to his feet.
TMZ reported that the singer then used his microphone to thank fans for coming out to see him before he was escorted away.
The event hosting Meat Loaf later released a statement saying the singer had been taken to hospital for treatment.
"As everyone knows, Meat Loaf fell today. We wanted to keep you updated as soon as we knew something. We just found out that the hospital is keeping him overnight for observation," Texas Frightmare Weekend posted on Facebook.
However, TMZ also reported that Meat Loaf had been treated for a broken collarbone. Meat Loaf himself has yet to release a statement on the incident.
It is not the first time the Bat out of Hell singer has suffered onstage drama. In 2016, he collapsed during a concert in Edmonton, Canada, after suffering from severe dehydration.
At a concert in Pittsburgh in 2011, he fell to the floor unconscious before returning to his feet to finish the show.
According to the New York Post, before the concert finished he told the audience: "I f**king fainted. I have asthma... I can't breathe... And then... oh wait, I forgot... I got poked by a pin and bled half to death... and then I got slapped in the face and my tooth is loose."
