Far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has vowed to find the "sacks of shit" who tried to trick him into downloading child porn.

In a foul-mouthed rant broadcast on his website on Friday, the Infowars founder offered viewers US$1 million for information leading to the arrest of those who sent him emails containing the illegal images, US news site the Daily Beast reported.

"You're trying to set me up with child porn, I'm going to get your ass. One million dollars, one million dollars you little gang member. One million dollars to put your head on a pike. One million dollars, bitch."

Jones' lawyer Norm Pattis, appearing alongside Jones, said the FBI was investigating the matter. The FBI said it couldn't confirm whether this was the case.

Pattis said thousands of emails sent to Infowars were screened, and 12 of them contained illegal images.

"Those emails were never opened, those images were never opened," he said. "Twelve images, if knowingly possessed... could land anyone - or all of us - in prison."

Jones went into a passioned defence of his own sexuality, saying he likes "woman with big giant tits and big asses. I don't like kids like you goddamn rapists... I pray for divine intervention against the powers of Satan. I literally would never have sex with children. I don't like having sex with children. I would never have sex with children."

Jones has had a rough time of late - being kicked off mainstream sites like YouTube and Facebook, and facing legal action from parents of the children killed in 2012's Sandy Hook massacre, which Jones has repeatedly claimed was a hoax.
