One question that plagued the eighth season of Game of Thrones may have finally been answered a month after the series ended.

In season seven, Queen Cersei tells her brother and lover Jaime Lannister that she is pregnant with his child. Her other brother, Tyrion, also surmises she may be pregnant with her fourth child after noticing her refraining from drinking her precious wine.

The pregnancy was significant for fans of the series as not only did it seem to break a prophecy that Cersei would only have three children, but it became a stirring plot point when Jaime abandoned her and the child to fight at Winterfell.

However, questions about the pregnancy rose early in the eighth and final season when her new bedfellow, Euron Greyjoy, said he would give her a new prince and she made no mention of currently carrying a child. She was also shown frequently drinking her beloved red wine.

The pregnancy was largely ignored for the rest of the season and no answer was given before she and Jaime were crushed to death by falling debris in the series' penultimate episode.

That has left fans desperate to know if Cersei had earlier lost the child or if she had ever been pregnant in the first place. Some speculated that she had made up the baby to keep Jaime loyal to her.

The actress who played Cersei, Lena Headey, has now revealed that a scene cut from the end of season seven would have given fans their answer.

"We shot a scene that never made it into Season 7, which was where I lose the baby," Headey said while speaking at a German comic book convention over the weekend.

"It was really a traumatic, great moment for Cersei, and it never made it in, and I kind of loved doing that because it would have thought it would have served her differently."

She didn't say why the scene was cut, but Headey has been vocal about other disappointing plot points for her character. She has previously said she was gutted by her death scene.

A battle scene involving 50 direwolves was also reportedly cut.
