Dancing With The Stars NZ: William Waiirua, Clinton Randell eliminated in grand final

Two of the finalists have been eliminated just partway through the Dancing With The Stars NZ grand final, ending their dreams of winning the glitterball trophy.

All four contestants revisited an old dance for the final to try and win over the voting audience for the win.

But during an emotional elimination round, the bottom two would be permanent - sent home and unable to continue competing.

Despite both scoring their first perfect 30s during the finale, William Waiirua and Clinton Randell kissed goodbye to their dancing dreams.

William admitted he thought he would be out of the show after Elton John's Rocketman week, when he performed to "slowest samba ever" to 'Benny And The Jets'.

Meanwhile Randell was the only dancer to avoid the bottom two during the show's 10-week duration, no matter his position on the leader board.

Manu Vatuvei and Laura Daniel both looked visibly emotional despite being safe, needing to perform one more time before one will win the glitterball trophy.
