A man working at the Warner Bros movie lot has reportedly been stabbed in the throat on the set of Roald Dahl's The Witches, according to multiple media outlets.

The Independent reports that Hertfordshire Police confirmed they were called to an incident at the production site near Watford around midday on Wednesday (local time).

A man was taken to hospital with a neck injury while a 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

A police spokesperson told media the two men were known to each other.

According to The Mirror, the stabbing took place on the set of The Witches, which stars Anne Hathaway, Chris Rock and Octavia Spencer.

An insider reportedly told the tabloid: "I couldn't believe I was there for it. It's not something you expect to be close to."

The same lot has been used to film Stars Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace, as well as the Harry Potter series.
