American indie rock group The National are set to play two shows at Auckland's intimate ASB Theatre in Aotea Square.

The "world-class-all-seated" venue will host the Grammy-winning group for two nights on 3 and 4 April 2020.

"A mouth-watering sonic proposition of being able to see and hear a touchstone band in a perfect environment," the shows are billed as once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for fans to see the alternative rock group up close and personal.

The band are no strangers to New Zealand's shores. They have always included the country in their touring schedule since their 1999 inception, and have a great connection with their Kiwi fans.

The National performed at Spark Area in 2014, headlined Auckland City Limits Festival in 2017 and sold out the February 2018 Villa Maria Estate Winery.

Their 2017 album Sleep Well Beast won a Grammy for Best Alternative Album and scored several chart-topping singles.

I Am Easy To Find was released on May 17 alongside an accompanying short film, and is currently at number 2 on the charts in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Portugal, Switzerland and the UK. It's currently number 5 on the Billboard 200 and 6 on Australia's ARIA chart.

General public tickets go on sale on Friday 28 June from Ticketmaster at 10am.

"These kinds of very special shows do not come around very often. These kinds of shows are where magic happens."
