Scottish singing sensation Lewis Capaldi coming to New Zealand in January

Scottish singing sensation Lewis Capaldi has announced his first show in New Zealand next year.

The 'Someone You Loved' hit maker will play the Auckland Town Hall on January 7 next year.

Capaldi, known for his offbeat sense of humor and social media presence, earned over one billion streams worldwide with his debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent

The 22-year-old got his start by sneaking into pubs at the age of nine years old, where he impressed the local punters with his musical talents.

"Capaldi has had a sensational 18 months in which his lovelorn songcraft and mind-blowing vocal abilities have bewitched listeners both at home and abroad," a statement from promoter Live Nation says.

The Glaswegian singer often draws on heartbreak in his work, as demonstrated with his debut single 'Bruises,' based on a particularly nasty break up. The track, released in 2017, saw Capaldi named the fastest unsigned artist to reach 25 million plays on Spotify.

Kiwi fans can buy tickets to Capaldi's Auckland show from July 2.
