Beyonce fans lashed out after a video showing the star looking annoyed at a woman at a basketball game went viral.
Beyonce and husband Jay-Z were guests of the Golden State Warriors on Thursday as they played in game three of the NBA finals.
Club owner Loe Jacob and his wife Nicole Curran were playing hosts to the musical power couple when Curran leaned over Beyonce to ask Jay-Z what drink he'd like to order.
A video posted on Twitter by sports channel ESPN showed the brief conversation during which Beyonce appears to be annoyed at the encounter.
The video then went viral with most posts implying that Curran was, in fact, hitting on Jay-Z.
Matters weren't helped went Beyonce posted a photo gallery of her evening which cropped out Curran and failed to address the accusations being made in the viral posts.
On Friday, Curran told ESPN reporter Ramona Shelburne that she had been "getting death threats on social media all night" from Beyonce's fanbase, nicknamed 'The Beehive'.
The Beehive's barbed messages forced Curran to deactivate her Instagram account and prompted her to talk to Shelburne to make her side of the story public.
"Curran says Jay Z asked for a vodka soda. She asked if he wanted lime with that. But it was loud in Oracle [the arena] and she couldn't hear, so she leaned over. That's where the photos of Beyoncé looking askance at her come from," Shelburne posted on Twitter.
"Curran says she then went to go get them those drinks. "There was no hostility. I was trying to be a good hostess," she said. "I've never experienced cyber bullying like this. I can't believe our players go through this. That kids go through this'", Shelburne continued.
Before deleting her account, Curran attempted to explain her stance to Beyonce's fanbase.
"Listen Beehive. I respect Queen B. I love her! I talked to her husband twice tonight. First, to take a drink order for them both when they arrived as they were our guests," Curran said according to theshaderoom.com.
"Second to explain why I gave his wife a rose from a fan. All of this has been taken out of context. I am a happily married woman. Telling me to kill myself????? Somehow I don't think she would support this," Curran added.
While Beyonce is yet to respond to Curran's plight, Instagram users have rounded on the pop star on Instagram.
"A woman is getting death threats against her life from your fan base and you're just gonna cut it out? B, you're amazing, but you gotta address this. Your fans are being BULLIES. Is that something you support?," one user said.
"Her fans threatened another woman because the other woman asked what her husband wanted to drink like a good host...yet she remains silent. How can she be about empowering others? Is the beehive that immature?," another added.
However, Fifth Harmony star Dinah Jane appeared to back The Beehive.
"Here for that crop out at the end. ENERGY."
