Two mainstays of 80's pop music are making their way to Aotearoa for the first time ever in March next year.

Norweigan trio A-ha, known for their synth-laden hit 'Take On Me', will bring their Hunting High And Low tour to New Zealand in celebration of the 35th anniversary of their debut album of the same name.

They will be supported by special guest and fellow pop culture icon Rick Astley. Astley's hit 'Never Gonna Give You Up' has not only stood the test of time, but weaved itself into meme culture with the advent of the internet prank 'Rick-Rolling'.

The two classic names will take the stage Horncastle Arena in Christchurch on March 5 before heading to Auckland on March 7 for a show at Villa Maria Winery.

"We can’t wait to play in New Zealand for the first time" said A-ha guitarist Paul Waaktaar-Savoy in a statement.

"We’ll be comparing your fjords with our Norwegian ones!”

Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday July 26.
