Chelsea Handler will return to New Zealand with a new stand up tour for Kiwi audiences later this year.

The former Chelsea Lately host will be performing her latest show Life Will Be The Death Of Me at Auckland's Town Hall on October 9.

The comedian, known for her brash candor and self-deprecating humour, will be fresh from a 27-date tour in the US for her first visit back to Aotearoa since her live tour in 2014.

After seven years hosting Chelsea Lately on E!, Handler launched a Netflix talk show in 2016, as well as a documentary series called Chelsea Does. Next to hit Netflix will be the feature-length documentary she produced about white privilege.

The Life Will Be The Death Of Me tour takes the same name as Handler's sixth book, an "all-true story of her year of self-discovery" which includes learning how to work the remote and where to find the toaster.

Tickets go on sale Friday July 12.
