Kylie Jenner opens up about abnormal childhood, anxiety and imperfect life on Instagram

Kylie Jenner has penned a heartfelt message to fans explaining there's much more to her life than lip kits, lamborghinis and luxury holidays.

The make-up mogul and mother of one took to Instagram with an image of her standing on the shoreline, arms outstretched in front of a dramatic sunset.

In the lengthy caption, Jenner reflected on her unorthodox upbringing as part of the Kardashian clan and the effect it's had on her life.

"I'm proud of myself, my heart, and my strength," she began.

"Growing up in the light with a million eyes on you just isn't normal.

"I've lost friends along the way and I've lost myself too sometimes," she added,  a possible reference to the disillusion of her friendship with Jordyn Woods, who admitted to kissing Khloe Kardashian's partner Tristan Thompson.

"My first tattoo was 'sanity' to remind myself everyday to keep it," she continued.

"I've struggled with anxiety my whole young adult life and after my baby I dealt with all the internal ups and downs.

"I felt like I had to find myself completely again. I keep a whole lot to myself but just wanted to share and let you know I'm human."

Jenner made a point of reminding her 140 million followers that what they saw of her life on social media was "just the surface", before imploring them to "be gentle" with themselves.

"My life is not perfect," she insisted.

At the time of writing, the post has been like over 6.3 million times. The comment section has been flooded with messages of encouragement from Jenner's sisters, Khloe, Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, as well as model Hailey Bieber and singer SZA.
