Naomi Campbell shares bizarre germ-phobic flight routine

Naomi Campbell has shared her unorthodox in-flight routine with fans on her YouTube channel.

The supermodel goes to great lengths to avoid contact with germs and catching an illness when travelling, as illustrated by the contents of her carry-on bag.

In the video, Campbell begins by hunting for a pair of surgical gloves stashed in a zip lock bag in her Louis Vuitton luggage.

She calls this "the best part" of her process.

Once her hands are protected, the runway icon goes to work with a pack of Dettol wipes, disinfecting every inch of her seat, tray table, remote and surrounding area.

"Clean everything you touch. Anything you could possibly touch," she says, as the woman in the seat behind her looks on, bemused.

"This is what I do on every plane I get on," she continues.

"I do not care what people think of me, it's my health, and it makes me feel better."

After a lengthy wipe-down which even includes the air conditioning vents and light above her seat, Campbell produces a bright pink seat cover.

The 49-year-old model explains she purchases a new cover from the airport every week, and has them hand-washed at each hotel she stays at.

Campbell adds it's important for her to buy covers in "colours that make you happy - turquoise, whatever".

The pièce de résistance, however, is her medical face mask, which she dons for the entire flight to prevent her from breathing in any nasties.

"No matter what plane you take - private or commercial - as the plane descends, people start coughing and sneezing, so this is my protection," she says.

"As much as I travel, I should get such so much more with colds and stuff, and I'm blessed that I don't," she concludes, knocking on wood.

"I really think this helps me, my little routine."
