Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness announces first ever New Zealand show

Jonathan Van Ness, star of Netflix's hit show Queer Eye, has announced his first ever New Zealand show will take place next year.

The grooming guru will bring his Road to Beijing tour to Kiwi audiences for shows in Auckland and Christchurch in February 2020.

The show is inspired by Van Ness' "lifelong obsession" with becoming a figure-skating prodigy in time for the next Olympics in China.

The Emmy-nominated TV personality, hairstylist and podcaster added stand up comedy to his reportoire after shooting to fame with his role on Queer Eye.

Road to Bejing promises to serve "cirque-du-so-gay-realness between stand-up sets so good your face will be in need of a massage from all the smiling."

Van Ness frequently shares videos of his figure-skating practice with his 4 million followers on Instagram.

Recently, the 32-year-old came out as non-binary, telling Out magazine: "I'm gender non-conforming".

"Like, some days I feel like a man, but then other days I feel like a woman," he explained.

"I think my energies are really all over the place. Any opportunity I have to break down stereotypes of the binary, I am down for it."

Tickets for Jonathan Van Ness' Road to Beijing tour go on sale Friday, August 2.
