Stan Walker performs amazing rendition of 'Shallow' from A Star is Born

Stan Walker is one of the most recognisable faces in New Zealand, whether it be judging TV talent shows, to hosting The Project, to being on the big screen.

As it turns out, the guy even sings a little too.

Walker, 28, stopped by The Edge on Tuesday, performing his rendition of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's duet 'Shallow' from A Star is Born. Walker fans have showered the performance with praise, the Instagram video racking up almost 3500 views in two hours.

Mere weeks after releasing his EP Faith Hope Love, a project created in response to the Christchurch terror attacks, Walker dropped his latest single 'Give'. On Tuesday night he appeared on The Project to debut the song, inspired by getting back "what you give".

"It was never going to happen, the EP," Walker told The Project.

"But after everything that did happen in Christchurch, I felt compelled, I felt it was my duty as an artist who wants to bring hope and healing to people... It was the only way I could do something, that meant something.

All funds raised from the EP will be donated to the families of the Christchurch terror attack victims.

"I didn't want to do this for clout, or as an opportunity for me... I believe we're called to [bring peace] as artists, as storytellers, as mood-changers, as healers."

Walker says the single was birthed out of his reaction to the tragic events in March.

"We [Walker and Matiu Walters from Six60] felt so blessed and privileged to do what we do, to have the platforms we have," he told The Project.

"This whole thing reminded us of our own whanau and where we come from... you get back what you give."
