Taika Waititi, Sam Neill feature on Rick & Morty's fourth season

Two of New Zealand's proudest cinematic exports will lend their iconic accents to the fourth season of Rick & Morty.

Filmmaker Taika Waititi and actor Sam Neill will feature on the animated sci-fi sitcom that follows sociopathic scientist Rick and his grandson Morty as they adventure across the universe.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, show creator Dan Harmon confirmed the Kiwi guest stars alongside some other Hollywood heavyweights.

"We've got Paul Giamatti - that’s a hot scoop," he said.

"We got Sam Neill. Taika Waititi does a voice. Kathleen Turner."

When quizzed as to whether Neill would be riffing off of his legendary Jurassic Park or Event Horizon characters, Harmon replied: "Neither".

"He's from the same species as Taika's character, and we wanted a Kiwi flavour to their species."

It's not the first time the New Zealand accent has twanged its way into the world of Rick & Morty - Flight Of The Conchords star Jemaine Clement voiced a mind-reading fart in season two.
