Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth split after seven months of marriage

US singer and former Disney Channel star Miley Cyrus and Australian actor Liam Hemsworth have split after seven months of marriage.

The pair, who dated on and off after meeting on the set of the 2009 film The Last Song, married in December 2018. Their separation was confirmed by Cyrus' rep on Saturday (local time).

"Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what's best while they both focus on themselves and [their] careers," the representative said in a statement to People.

Cyrus' rep confirmed Hemsworth and Cyrus "remain dedicated parents" to their numerous animals and asked for fans to respect their privacy at this time.

The couple were first engaged in 2012 before splitting a year later. They became engaged again in 2016 after rekindling their relationsip.

News of the split comes a day after Cyrus, 26, was spotted getting intimate with a woman named Kaitlynn Carter on Friday.
