Bindi Irwin shares glimpse of her wedding dress amid rumours of family estrangement

Bindi Irwin has given the world a glimpse of her wedding dress ahead of her upcoming nuptials to long-term partner, Chandler Powell.

On Monday, the 21-year-old daughter of the late TV personality and conservationist, Steve Irwin, revealed a sneak peek of the bridal gown to her 2.7 million Instagram followers.

The shot, which has amassed over 416,000 likes since it was uploaded on Monday morning, also allows fans a good look at her diamond engagement ring.

The close-up, captioned "I said yes to the dress", displays a long sleeve with broderie anglaise detail.

Irwin and Powell, her partner of six years, announced their engagement on her 21st birthday in July.

In an interview with the Queensland publication the Courier Mail earlier this month, Irwin's grandfather, Bob Irwin, revealed he has yet to receive an invite to his granddaughter's wedding.

"I haven't had an invite to the wedding and, to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't expect to be invited," he told the publication.

The 80-year-old has been estranged from his daughter-in-law, Terri Irwin, and grandchildren, Bindi and Robert, since leaving Australia Zoo in 2008. He says he hasn't seen or spoken to his grandchildren for over 10 years.

The rift between Bob Irwin and his late son's family was highly-publicised following his resignation from the Queensland attraction. His departure was reportedly caused by conflict with his daughter-in-law and Steve's close friend, Wes Carrion, over the zoo's operation.

"Much the same as any other parent or grandparent, I would wish [Bindi and Chandler] the best - which I do," he told the Courier Mail.

"Although a lot of untruths and rubbish and absolute garbage have been written in the past, you reach a point where you've had enough."

However, the grandfather said he wouldn't hesitate to accept an invite if he were to receive one.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Steve Irwin's sister, Joy Muscillo, claims she has also lost contact with her sister-in-law, niece and nephew. She described the Irwin family rift as "very sad".

"I keep away from all that," she told the outlet.

Bindi's 15-year-old brother, Robert, will reportedly walk her down the aisle in place of her late father.

The wedding is expected to take place next year at the family's Australia Zoo.

Bindi has previously mentioned she would like to televise the wedding on the family's TV show, Crikey! It's the Irwins.

Steve Irwin died in September 2006, aged 44, after a stingray barb pierced his chest while filming an underwater documentary.
