Celebs react after vile Hollywood racist rant goes viral

Celebrities are reacting in shock and disbelief to a video showing a vile racist tirade in Hollywood.

Costume designer Heather Lynn Patton has worked on shows including Medium and The Americans. But her career is now in doubt after she was caught screaming racial slurs earlier this week.

Adrene Ashford, who filmed the video, told Heavy the incident began when Patton began shouting at her outside a pharmacy store in the Eagle Rock neighbourhood of Los Angeles.

The video shows Patton jumping up and down and yelling "I hate n****rs".

"I just hate n****rs. Fuck you n****rs!" she shouts. "I would kill a n****r but the law says I can't kill the n****rs. If the law didn't say that I couldn't kill the n****rs they'd all be dead!"

"I haven't been able to sleep," Ashford told Heavy. "[She was] following me around, yelling at me, shouting what she wants to do to black people. That's against the law. That's a hate crime. I want it to be known that this is a hate crime and this type of behaviour isn't OK. She is not a safe person to have out here in the community."

In the aftermath, several actresses and celebrities who have worked with her have responded on Twitter.

"Wow. Apparently she worked on Private Practice. I don't remember her but apparently if not for the law she would've killed me and Taye? Harsh," wrote actress Audra McDonald.

And Emmy-winning actress Patricia Arquette asked for a police update on the situation.

According to both the Los Angeles Times and KTLA-TV, the LAPD has begun a hate crime investigation.
