Australian actor Jason Donovan still a good neighbour as he fights fire in undies

Ex-Neighbours star Jason Donovan has proved everyone needs good neighbours after he helped fight a fire - in his undies.

Donovan, who starred in the show with Kylie Minouge, was seen fighting the fire near his London home on September 22.

The 51-year-old lives across the road from where the fire started, and ran out with a fire extinguisher when he saw the flames, the BBC reports.

"Thank you the @LondonFire [sic] for getting to the situation so quickly, glad no one was hurt," Donovan said on Twitter.

"This is a good reason to wear PJs to bed (in case of emergencies) but much more importantly to have extinguishers at hand in the home."

London Fire watch manager Thomas Wolfe told the BBC they got a surprise when they arrived at the scene.

"It soon transpired that it was Jason Donovan who noticed the fire from his property over the road.

"He looks good for his age."

As well as Neighbours Donovan has starred in the TV series MDA, the film Rough Diamonds and the War of the Worlds stage tour.

He also had several hit singles between the 1980s and 1990s, including 1988's 'Especially for You' duet with Minogue.

Donovan also provided the voice of Buzz the quizmaster in the popular Playstation 2 video game Buzz. He's currently playing Pharaoh in a West End run of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
