Please enjoy this video of Jessica Biel shading Justin Timberlake's band *NSYNC in the 90s

We've all felt the sting of a loved one's disapproval: perhaps your boyfriend "doesn't get" that fun beret you bought, or your mum keeps asking if you're hungover again.

Still, none of us has endured the indignity of watching the person we love diss our pop music endeavours on TV,  which is what poor old Justin Timberlake has just been subjected to.

Back in 1999, when butterfly clips were the bomb and *NSYNC were regular chart-toppers, Jessica Biel was asked her thoughts about the boy band, of which Justin was the 2-minute-noodle-haired frontman.

Blissfully ignorant to the fact she'd start dating the lead singer nearly a decade on, Jessica responded with the kind of apathetic shutdown only a person who was extremely hot in high school can properly hone.

"To be honest, I don't really listen," a youthful Jessica says in the clip, which Jimmy Fallon unearthed on the Tonight Show.

"I mean, I know of them, of course, I've heard of them, I've heard their music. I don't think I own any of their CDs, I'm not a huge fan."

And the pièce de résistance?

"I mean, cool I guess."

If, like me, your first concern is to how a person in the late 90's could remain unmoved by seminal classics like 'Tearin' Up My Heart' and 'I Want You Back,' Jessica has an explanation.

Apparently, The Sinner star liked "listening to theatre productions" like Rent and Motown. 'Cool, I guess', but still.

To her credit, some of *NSYNC's biggest bangers like 'Bye, Bye, Bye' would not come out for another year after the interview, at which point I imagine her world was changed forever.

These days, Justin and Jessica are married with a cute child and millions of dollars between them, and I still get down to *NSYNC in my living room on a regular basis.

All's well that ends well, right?
