'Epic' or 'a new level of cringe'? Daisy Ridley's Star Wars rap prompts mixed reaction

Star Wars fans are divided over star Daisy Ridley's rapping skills after she recapped the entire Skywalker saga in three minutes on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Ahead of Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, the 27-year-old actor rattled off an overview of every single film in the original trilogy, the prequels and the current trilogy.

The video quickly went viral, with passionate fans of the Force weighing in on its entertainment value - or lack thereof.

"This is so bad. This is 'I will look at this the next day, and realise what a horrible mistake I made' bad," one tweet read.

"Daisy is grand. Rehearsed raps aren't," said another.

One fan called the performance "a new level of cringe".

However, the clip was well-received by others, who praised Ridley's rap skills and in particular the line: 'Kylo [Ren] won't put on a shirt/Kylo is kind of a flirt", which garnered many mentions online.

"The rap is strong with this one," one fan wrote on YouTube.

"WHERE'S HER GRAMMY?" said another.

"Daisy Ridley is just gorgeous. She's the best thing that the new Star Wars movies brought up."

As fans prepare for the final instalment of the Skywalker saga, LucasFilm has released a montage of the film's cast and crew bidding farewell to the films.
