The daughter of rapper T.I. has unfollowed her father on social media after he revealed he takes her for an annual doctor's visit to check if her hymen is intact.

According to E! News, 18-year-old Deyjah Harris is no longer an Instagram follower of her dad - although when exactly she made the move is unclear.

T.I. caused an uproar when he told the hosts of the Ladies Like Us podcast how he forces his daughter to go to the gynaecologist the day after her birthday each year.

"I will say as of her 18th birthday, her hymen is still intact," the 'Whatever You Like' hitmaker said, adding that he leaves a post-it note on his daughter's door informing her of the appointment time.

"I say, 'Look doc, she don't ride no horses, she don't ride no bike, she don't play no sports. Just check the hymen please and give me back my results expeditiously'," he said.

While Deyjah has not directly addressed the comments, she has reportedly liked several tweets calling her father's tactics "possessive", "controlling" and "disgusting".

She also tweeted "I loveeeeeee yalllllll" alongside a sad face emoji to her 150,000 followers last week.

The hosts of the Ladies Like Us Podcast, Nazanin Mandi and Nadia Moham, have apologised for their reaction to T.I.'s story.

"We were completely caught off guard/shocked and looking back, we should have reacted much differently in the moment," they wrote in a statement.

"We sincerely apologise for our knee-jerk reaction to the uncomfortable topic... [we] feel deeply awful about the entire incident."

T.I. himself has not responded to the controversy.
