'Groundbreaking' new World War I film, 1917, promises 'visually stunning' experience for viewers

A true story, passed down by Sam Mendes' grandfather, provided the English director with the material for his upcoming World War I film, 1917.

Mendes, known for his work on American Beauty, Skyfall and Spectre, has undertaken a challenging filming technique to tell the story of 1917. The movie appears as though it's one long shot that has been filmed in one take.
