Mike McRoberts has presented 56 bikes to deserving kids with the funds raised for his chosen Dancing With The Stars NZ charity Variety - the Children's Charity.
The Newshub Live at 6pm presenter has long been a supporter of the Bikes for Kids programme, and this year raised over $40,000 for the cause by dusting off his dancing shoes.
On Tuesday, McRoberts visited Bairds Mainfreight School in Auckland to be a part of the heartwarming moment the students received new bikes and helmets.
"I grew up in a similar environment to these kids - my family didn't have a lot of money, but I still managed to get a bike. I just know what that means as a kid," McRoberts said.
"[It's] the opportunity for these children to have a bike, and to have that active, sporting sensation of riding around on a bike, the independence that comes with it, the sense of confidence."
"[It's] a reward, often, for what they've done within this community and within this school."
The Bikes for Kids programme benefits children from low-decile schools who have been nominated by people like teachers or social workers.
"It's just fantastic - you see the look on their faces when they get their bike and put their helmets on and they're ready to go - what a great start for them."
Variety's Bikes for Kids programme will see a further 110 bikes presented to kids across the country in the coming months.
