Married At First Sight NZ participant Tayler Morgan has a penned an unapologetic note to his Instagram followers after he was called out for an "insensitive" post about White Island.

In the wake of Monday's eruption that left five dead, eight missing and presumed dead, and 31 in hospital, Morgan uploaded a selfie with the geo-tag location: "White Island".

When commenters dubbed the move "insensitive", Morgan agreed it probably was, but insisted he didn't know there were any deaths when he uploaded the photo. He then changed the geo-tag to "Apple HQ".

"Hey beautiful humans," Morgan later wrote on his Instagram story.

"For the people that don't know me personally, I never mean any disrespect to anyone or anything. I think I'm an incredibly kind loving guy.

"I say dumb shit all the time, that's what my IG has been and is going to continue to contain.

"If you think you are easily offended by what I say, do, believe in or post then I'm probably not the person you want to follow."

Morgan finished the statement by reminding his followers: "I'm not an influencer. I'm human!"

The former reality TV star has turned off comments on the original post and changed his Instagram profile to private.
