Australian comedian Celeste Barber raises $50 million for bushfire victims

Comedian Celeste Barber has raised an incredible $50 million in donations for the New South Wales Rural Fire Service.

The 37-year-old and her family were evacuated due to the devastating fires which have raised more than 10 million hectares across Australia.

"Someone needed to do something and the people did something," Barber told 7 News on Sunday.

Barber is not the only celebrity who has raised money for the victims.

Kylie Minogue and her family have donated NZ$516,335 towards firefighting efforts, as did pop star P!nk.

Kath & Kim star Magda Szubanksi and Will 'Egg Boy' Connolly have started a GoFundMe crowdfunding effort to raise money for mental health services for bushfire victims, which has raised more than $67,123 in 24 hours

The fires have been burning out of control since December and at least 26 people have died.
