Gwyneth Paltrow's upcoming Netflix show based on 'Goop' wellness empire already causing controversy

American actress Gwyneth Paltrow's wellness empire, Goop, has made it to Netflix - but it's already copping criticism.

The minute-long trailer for Paltrow's upcoming Netflix series, Goop Lab, was released to outrage from medical professionals, who claim the celebrity's wellness practices are dangerous.

While Netflix calls it Goop Lab, others are calling it 'Poop Lab'.

The show's promotional material alone has people talking, the series promising that viewers will "reach new depths" through orgasms, psychedelics and psychic mediums.

In 2018, Paltrow's $250 million lifestyle and wellness company was fined more than $200,000 for making claims about products that weren't supported by scientific evidence.

Goop Lab's trailer is generating similar concerns, with a number of online personalities calling it "dangerous" and "unregulated", with one asking the all-important question: "Should I be scared?"

YouTube commentators have labelled the show as "troublesome", with one saying Netflix is enabling an "emphasis on the alternative" with "no emphasis on the scientific" for ratings - with the giant probably just as happy to milk this publicity for all its worth.
