Meghan Markle 'fleeing to Canada', begins talks with fashion brand Givenchy - reports

Meghan Markle is reportedly 'fleeing' to Canada and beginning talks with major fashion houses after she and Prince Harry announced their plans to "step back" as senior members of the royal family.

According to British media outlets, the Duchess of Sussex is imminently escaping the UK for Canada, where the couple's son Archie is in the care of a nanny.

British tabloid the Mirror reports Meghan has in fact already flown to North America, around 24 hours after a statement announcing the couple's intentions to become financially independent was released.

Buckingham Palace's official response to news of Harry and Meghan's "progressive new role" was a terse reminder "these are complicated issues that will take time to work through".

However, multiple media outlets claim Meghan will not wait for a resolution and is already utilising her newfound freedom to begin talks with major fashion brands.

The Sun reports Meghan is in talks with French fashion house Givenchy, who designed her wedding dress.

"Meghan is very connected in the fashion industry and there are a lot of major labels who would like to partner with her on projects," a source reportedly told The Sun.

"There have already been active discussions with Givenchy. Some of these deals could be worth millions of pounds. I’m sure she is going to link some of the initiatives to their foundation."

It is uncertain when Harry will join his wife in Canada, as he reportedly has a royal engagement in his diary next Thursday.
