Post Malone falls off New Year's Eve stage, criticised for lip-syncing

Singer Post Malone had a tumble on New Year's Eve, falling off the stage as he performed in New York.

The 'Circles' hit-maker was performing at the Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve event in New York's Time's Square on December 31 when he took a spill.

Pictures of the performance show Post Malone falling down into his adoring fans. Throughout the ordeal he kept cool, laughing off the tumble as his onstage entourage and security came to his rescue. He didn't look to be injured in the fall.

"Here's the aftermath of Post Malone falling off the stage tonight," said journalist Chris Pollone who shared images of the incident.

"He had just hugged Seacrest and went to shake fans' hands and his foot slipped off the stage. After he and fans got over the initial shock he smiled for a selfie as roadies helped him back up."

The 24-year-old has a history with falling off stages, having done the same thing in 2015 and 2018.

Wearing a shiny pink outfit, Post Malone was the night's headline act, but has been criticised by some on social media for appearing to be lip-syncing most of the performance.

"Ok forget Paula Abdul and the lip syncing, there's a 100 percent chance PostMalone is lip syncing also," one person said while also sharing a video of the performance.

"PostMalone totally doesn't lip sync," said another sarcastically.

Ahead of his performance, Post Malone showed off some new facial ink. The "gauntlet and flail" design "hurt like a motherf***er" according to the rapper.

"It's like a big spiked ball and a chain, it's pretty brutal... I wanted to do it for a while, but finally I said f**k it, let's do it," he said, hastily adding: "I love you, mum."
