Review: Bombshell is brilliantly named and explosive

Bombshell has just dropped on Kiwi cinemas, as some of the big-hitting awards season's contenders make their way here.

The Fox News scandal has already been made into a Golden Globe-winning TV show, and now we have it told on the big screen.

The brilliantly named and explosive Bombshell is going off at a cinema near you.

Nicole Kidman is journalist and presenter Gretchen Carlson, one of the many female faces of the Fox News Network - and who after being sacked sued the head of Fox for sexual harassment.

Charlize Theron is Megyn Kelly, Fox News anchor and Fox queen.

Bombshell is the fictional telling based on their very real story, with Margot Robbie's character of Kayla an amalgamation of a number of other Fox women. The movie shows how the insidiously toxic leadership of Fox CEO Roger Ailes affected their lives.

And it's a riveting watch.

This true story moves along at a cracking and confronting clip, as entertaining as it is shocking.

Needless to say, the Globe and Oscar-nominated performances from these fierce and talented women are reason enough to sign up.

Four-and-a-half stars.
