A former contestant on US TV show The Bachelorette has died from an apparent overdose aged 29.

Tyler Gwozdz, known as 'Tyler G' on the reality TV show, competed for the affection of Hannah Brown in the 2019 season.

His death comes after he was hospitalised in Florida last week after authorities were called to a "suspected medical overdose".

The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed to Deadline that it had Gwozdz's body, but wouldn't provide any further details and said an autopsy report wouldn't be available for eight to 12 weeks.

Gwozdz was an early favourite on his season, getting picked by Brown to go on the first one-on-one date.

However, he left abruptly exited the show in the third week, outside of a rose ceremony.

E! News reports he gave no warning to Brown or his fellow contestants, other than he "had to leave".
