MAFS AU 'recovered drug addict' bride Hayley Vernon admits to relapse

Married At First Sight Australia bride Hayley Vernon has confessed she relapsed from her sobriety in 2019 after having recovered from an eight year meth addiction.

Hayley, who has been open about her past drug abuse on the reality TV show, confirmed to the Daily Mail she had taken ecstasy in January last year and magic mushrooms as recently as last month.

"This doesn’t mean I’m back in my bedroom on meth every weekend," she told the tabloid.

"Nobody is perfect."

The revelation comes off the back of Sunday night's episode, in which Hayley broke down in tears when her husband David dubbed her a "recovering drug addict".

"Oh my God, I can't believe you just said that. I'm a recovered drug addict," she sobbed.

"I'm not my past. You're saying it like it's a bad thing that you've been matched with me because of that."

Last week, the Daily Mail obtained a photo that allegedly shows Hayley holding two bright yellow pills at a New Year's Eve rave in 2019.

The outlet reports that Hayley was drug tested before appearing on Married At First Sight and all of her results came back negative.

Hayley has insisted the recent drug use was simply a "momentary relapse".

The 32-year-old finance broker said she first started using marijuana at age 16 before developing an addiction to crystal meth at 19. She got clean when she was 26 years old.
