Seven Sharp host Jeremy Wells is in self-isolation after he came into contact with a Bachelorette NZ contestant who is being tested for COVID-19.

He won't be able to host TVNZ's 7pm show until his isolation period is over.

TVNZ said in a statement after it had been advised of the test, it followed the Ministry of Health's advice and notified everyone who has been in close contact with Wells.

Those people include several TVNZ staff and external parties related to the Bachelorette production.

"Those people are now isolating until test results are confirmed," it said.

The test results are expected to be confirmed on Thursday.

"We stress that at this stage the contestant has not tested positive to a COVID-19 test and TVNZ are taking all the necessary precautions in line with Ministry of Health advice."
