MAFS AU Kiwi bride apologises for 'offensive, inappropriate' Instagram post from 2014

A Kiwi-born bride from Married At First Sight Australia has apologised for a resurfaced Instagram post in which she made a rape joke and used a homophobic slur.

In a now-deleted post from Cathy Evans which dates back to 2014, she describes a man at her gym as a "f**king f****t," and publicly commented to a friend that he was "raping her with his eyes".

In a statement to the Daily Mail, Evans said she was sorry for her language, admitting it was a "lapse in judgement".

"I am so embarrassed for my use of such offensive and inappropriate language," she told the tabloid.

"It was a lapse in judgement at the time and I apologise for any hurt or offence I have caused."

Evans was 20 years old at the time of the comments, which accompanied a photo of herself at the gym.

"Wish I was this tanned all year!" the caption read.

"Trained back today, any advice on how to deal with a f**king f****t who won't stop staring at me when I work out?

"Like not the normal 'checking you out'. It's like proper, 'In my culture, women don't even come out of the house.' Any advice I'll take, thanks."

The Daily Mail reports Evans deleted the post after MAFS AU viewers discovered it.

Married At First Sight Australia airs on Sundays at 7pm and Monday - Wednesday at 7.30pm on Three, with the episodes also available on ThreeNow.
