Comedy metal act Steel Panther are returning to New Zealand for one show in May.

The 'Death to All but Metal' rockers will play at Auckland's The Powerstation on May 20.

Steel Panther have previously played at the same venue in 2012 and again in 2016.

"For the uninitiated, Steel Panther was formed in 2000 and is comprised of Michael Starr (lead singer), Satchel (guitarist), Lexxi Foxx (bass) and Stix Zadinia (drums)," says promotional material for the concert.

"Hailing from Los Angeles, the epicenter for rock n' roll in all its debauchery and glamour, Steel Panther has established themselves as the world’s premier party band, melding hard rock virtuosity with parody and criminally good looks."

Steel Panther's upcoming Auckland show is part of their Heavy Metal Rules Tour, which then has dates in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Newcastle.

Tickets go on sale March 11.
