COVID-19: NZ comedy duo's 'Hug Horny' song celebrates physical contact at level 2

Kiwi comedy couple Laura Daniel and Joseph Moore have created another relatable banger amid the coronavirus pandemic - this time revelling in the joy of being able to touch other humans again under COVID-19 alert level 2.

Performing under their band name 'Two Hearts', Daniel and Moore tackle the topic of lockdown loneliness and going without hugs during alert levels 3 and 4.

Daniel reunites with her Dancing With The Stars ballroom partner Shae Mountain for the music video, which begins with the pair connecting via video chat.

"It's been a long long time, and my heart is beating, we've only talked online in a group Zoom meeting," Daniel sings.

"While you've been stuck up in your house all day making kombucha, I've been dreamin' 'bout when we're face to face but I won't smooch ya," she continues, before breaking into the chorus which declares: "I'm hug horny".

As per their previous COVID-19 anthem 'I Don't Wanna Bone Ya Bloomfield', an ode to Aotearoa's director-general of health, Moore takes up the rap verse.

"You're not my best friend but you're in the top ten and according to Jacinda that's enough," one of his lines goes.

"My shoulder's what you put your face in/Oxytocin levels racing/I've been horny for a hug since level 4 was seven days in.

"Never knew how hard it would get, watching hug porn on the internet/Thank God we can now embrace, as long as we contact trace."

It's not just friends and pets that are overdue for a hug either. Trees, laptops, statues and bins all also make the list as being "horny for hugs".

Keen to be sure they're encouraging fans to play by the rules, Two Hearts include a safety disclaimer at the close of the video, advising: "The hugs depicted in this music video were performed by close friends. Do not re-enact with strangers, randoms or family members you don't care for."

'Hug Horny' was created for Dai Henwood's comedy show Dai's Houseparty, which has been airing on Three every Thursday night at 8.30pm throughout lockdown.
