A used jockstrap bearing Elvis Presley's initials in rhinestones said to be worn by 'The King' throughout his career is on sale for nearly GBP £29,950 (NZ$60,000).

The previously loved undergarment is up for grabs courtesy of Paul Fraser Collectibles from the Elvis Presley Museum collection. Adorned with blue rhinestones spelling out E P and presented in a glass case, the accompanying plaque asserts the item was custom made by a fan and worn by Presley until his death in 1977.

Daniel Wade, a representative from Paul Fraser Collectibles, told The Blast the piece was "extravagant, absurd and sexually potent".

"This rhinestone-studded jockstrap is pure Elvis Presley... I'm sure the new owner won't be able to resist wearing it out on a Saturday night," Wade continued.

"'The Elvis magic will work wonders, I'm certain. Joking aside, Elvis-owned garments are scarce and hugely popular with collectors.

"This is a rare opportunity to own an intimate piece of The King."

Paul Fraser Collectibles is offering the buyer free international delivery and the item comes with a certificate of authenticity.
