Kiwi Comedian Urzila Carlson to replace Lindsay Lohan on The Masked Singer AU

Kiwi Comedian Urzila Carlson will replace Lindsay Lohan as a panelist on The Masked Singer Australia, it has been announced.

With Lohan unable to take part in the show due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, Carlson has been selected to take her place - something she's "very excited" about.

"Being on The Masked Singer Australia is very exciting - it's not something I thought I would ever do," Carlson said in a statement to Mediaweek.

"But when I got the call to say 'Lindsay can't make it because of Cyrus The Virus, could you step in?' I immediately said 'yes'."

Host Osher Gunsberg described the 7 Days star as "an absolute crack up", adding that she'll fit right in on the show, where celebrities compete against each other singing in a head to toe costume which conceals their identities. The panelists are given clues about the famous contestants and asked to guess who they are after their performances.

Carlson, who recently debuted her hour-long Netflix comedy special Overqualified Loser, shared a message for any audience members who were angry about her replacing Lohan.

"Think about this - I have to wear her wardrobe because they've already spent the money, so they are just putting in a few clips for me. Spare a thought for me."
