'Hi sweeties!': Paula Bennett to host Magic Talk mornings for a week

Former National Party deputy leader Paula Bennett will take to the airwaves as the host of Magic Talk's morning programme next week while Peter Williams is on holiday.

She'll anchor the show between 9am - 12pm each weekday for the week beginning August 10.

The Magic Mornings show includes several regular political interview slots that Paula will take over in Williams' absence, which will see her grill Judith Collins, Winston Peters and Grant Robertson, among others.

Whether or not Bennett will employ her iconic line "zip it, sweetie" - once used against Jacinda Ardern in parliament - remains to be seen.

Magic Talk's content director Kim Blair says Bennett's temporary radio role will be a great opportunity for listeners to get to know the former politician away from the Beehive.

"Paula is down to earth, tells it like it is and won't shy away from the tough conversations," Blair said.
